Kid Blue is, of course, the Chew The Fat resident who’s picked up the mantle from Paul ‘Trouble’ Arnold – currently recovering from leukaemia – and helped broaden the Fat! remit somewhat. ‘Way Back’ utilises brass samples alongside wibbly tech-funk stylings, breaking down into an old skool break with neat stabs to accompany before the b-line snakes to the fore. Think along the lines of A Guy Called Gerald's Voodoo Ray and you'll get an idea on why Fat Record's Kid Blue titled this release Way Back, although in no way is it a parody to the former classic. A well crafted and band up to date 4/4 tune that like all of Kid Blue's previous releases has a high level of quality and panache and could equally fit into a house, breaks or a even techno set.
