If you are a fan of breaks, then you would of heard of Ils, a producer, and DJ on the scene of several years, his work has been rated first class within the scene and continues to pleasure our ears with top rated productions.
'Hate Is An Illness' NAPT RMX
Signature Napt beats kick this track off, with an eerie pad to get us in the mood, or does it? We then trail into a slow gentle vocal, ‘aint nobody’, phattened up by a thick slice of Napt bass. At first listen you may be forgiven to utter the word ‘cheese’ but it is far from it, solid beats bass and tension building. There is a deepness that filters through, which is strong evidence of the Ils touch. Once fully settled into the groove the essence of Napt shines through beautifully and you are sure to get the urge to bounce around. The production is crisp and warm and both ends of the track (as expected) fulfil the DJs’ needs. This is overall all a good bouncing track that will have the punters smiling on the dance floors.
The original offers an old skool vocal pitch, that again, sits well with the rest of the track. Offering atmosphere and to an extent nostalgia, it is hard to pigeonhole this work, it just is, and what it is, is good.
4/5
'Lone Riders' DEF inc RMX
A darker tone to the second track, again a smooth vocal and that deep feel that gives away the Ils signature. Def Inc has really given this already outstanding track an edge as only they know how. Applying extra percussion edgier beats and an overall sense of tension. The remix and the original hold something special, and there is no denying a good track when you hear one, this is as breakbeat should be, dark and powerful, with a sense of timelessness. Certainly not for peak time, but then again to drop this at peak time would certainly change the journeys direction.
The original version exudes even more atmosphere, which gently carries you through dark streets to something that really does give you a feeling of solidarity.
